A message of solidarity for teachers of arts subjects and for teachers who are persecuted in Greece
The World Federation of Teachers’ Unions FISE, member of the WFTU, welcomes the struggle of teachers who specialize in and teach arts subjects such as music, theater, visual arts, in primary and secondary education in Greece. These subjects are basic, necessary and complement the all-round education and the integration of the personality of the new generation
FISE consistently supports the demands for the recruitment of teachers with collective labor agreements that ensure the coverage of the needs of teachers. The so-called arts subjects must be taught at all levels of education, with the appropriate staff and the necessary infrastructure.
At the same time, we denounce the Greek government for the barrage of persecution it has unleashed against teachers and trade unionists who are fighting for their rights and for the improvement of the education provided.
Fellow militant colleagues,
The privatization of education and the evaluation associated with the underfunding and degradation of the education provided are spreading everywhere. However, in many countries, as in yours, teachers are resisting and gaining ground
We are on your side. We condemn the persecution and intimidation of teachers and trade unionists. We support your initiatives. We are opposed to any effort by governments, the EU, and OECD decisions to silence unions and exploit education for the interests of monopolies and multinationals
We wish good luck in the mobilizations:
The Board of Directors of the Panhellenic Scientific Association of Theatre Professionals (PESYTH).
The Board of Directors of the Chamber of Visual Arts of Greece (EETE).
The Board of Directors of the Panhellenic Association of Music Education Teachers (PASEME)
The unions in education that take part.
We support the initiatives that the unions are taking, against persecution and disciplinary measures.
They cannot silence us
Your Struggles are a legacy for the global trade union movement
