Dear Comrade,
On behalf of the All Pakistan Federation of United Trade Unions (APFUTU), we congratulate you on the successful holding of the Congress of 20th FISE and hope that a formal resolution in favor of Pakistani teachers will also be passed in the Congress. Pakistani teachers are also engaged in the struggle for their rights.
Private sector teachers are not being paid the minimum wage and are not registered with Social Security and EOBI (Penshion Department).
Public educational institutions are being privatized.
Banning unions, banning the registration of new unions, and enforcing the Compulsory Service Act to prevent protests are reprehensible actions.
Teachers’ jobs in government-run educational institutions are not protected.
Over the past year, teachers have attempted to convey their demands to the government by recording peaceful protests.
APFUTU against elimination of tax rebate, new pension rules and other policies potentially damaging career of university teachers across Pakistan.
The APFUTU accused the Punjab government of eroding institutional autonomy through restrictive measures while neglecting urgent demands for enhanced recurring grants to alleviate fiscal crises in public universities.
Schoolteachers demanding the provincial government to revoke the decision to privatise 13,000 public schools and cancel the new timetable and schedule introduced for schools in the province.
APFUTU also demand that the privatisation of schools would exacerbate the already critical situation in the education sector, as the province was already grappling with a shortage of 120,000 teachers.
APFUTU also demanded regularisation of educators, restoration of leave encashment policy, upgrade of science and computer laboratories, increase in allowances of computer and head teachers, implementation of time-scale promotion in service, pay and service protection, and provision of service promotions.
“We need to focus on recruiting new teachers, increasing salaries, and improving working conditions rather than outsourcing our schools,”
The APFUTU vowed to continue the agitation until acceptance of the demands, and urged the government to prioritise the needs of the education sector and its workforce.
APFUTU demand to the government should increase the salaries and pension of the employees but it was cutting the pension, gratuity and leave encashment.
APFUTU demand to the employees who served during their youth were rendered high and dry in their old age.
APFUTU demand to the government had ended rule 17-A and it was an economic benefit for the families of the deceased employees.
APFUTU demand to the government increased the salaries of the members of the parliament but cut the pension and gratuity of employees.
APFUTU demand to the employees would fight for their rights and would ensure reversal of these anti-employee notifications.
